Fees for Grant Buckley Law’s Services

General.  Unless your project is a “fixed fee” or “not to exceed fee” project, fees for our legal services are calculated based on the hourly rates noted above.  Billing is in 15 minute increments, i.e., .15, .30, .45 and 1 hour.   Grant Buckley Law is happy to provide you with a written fee estimate for a discrete project, e.g., creation of a contract, upon your request.  We honor our written estimates unless there is a change in project scope.  In most cases a client requests a change in project scope.  We will advise you in writing of any project scope change we think may increase your fee.  Monthly invoices are typically presented during the first week of the following calendar month for legal services provided during the previous calendar month.  Grant Buckley Law reserves the right to suspend reduced hourly rates for clients that fail to timely pay for our legal services.  If your company utilizes a vendor billing system that extends payment time or discounts fees, different hourly rates may apply.

Fixed Fee or Not To Exceed Fee Projects. For certain projects, Grant Buckley Law may offer a “fixed fee” or “not to exceed fee”.  For these projects, we may require payment in full up front or payment in 2 installments, usually at the inception and completion of a project.

Retainer Fee.  Grant Buckley Law may require a retainer fee prior to beginning a certain project.  A retainer fee is held in a trust account pending completion of the project.  A monthly retainer arrangement may be available for our part-time general counsel services.

Location Agreements.  For location agreement services for landowners, we typically charge a fixed fee.  Factors that guide us in determining our fee include the amount the filmmaker is paying the landowner, location of the property, duration of filming, etc.  We charge our hourly rate for additional services for landowners, e.g., acting as a P.O.C., and for location agreement services for filmmakers.
